Mardi Gras in Atlanta, that's what I call it. The largest (and at 4-days the longest) indoor cocktail party in Georgia.

There's all kinds of bands and acts to enjoy that go on all night long. You should try to see the guy that acts out the entire "Star Wars" movie - the original, of course - in 30 minutes. And on Saturday night a huge crowd of fans get together in the ballroom for a showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. The biggest crowd of people I ever danced the "Time Warp" with.
It's just a jump to the left.....

You can also meet some of the nicest people... some the strangest, but also the nicest.

I ran into these guys on a patio outside the bar. They had a costume idea that wasn't original but it certainly was economical.

You can meet celebrities in the Autograph Hall. The late James "Scotty" Doohan, Richard "Jaws" Kiel, writer Harlen Ellison, Erin Gray from Buck Rogers, Richard "you've seen him in a million movies and still don't know his name" Lynch, Peter "Chewie" Mayhew, Lou "Hulk" Ferrigno. The last two are cast members of the TV show "Firefly" and feature film "Serenity". Did I mention that my mommy cat, Kaylee, is named after the blonde's character in the show?
Adam "not one of those Baldwins" Baldwin, Ron "WKRP" Glass, Jewel Staite and Morena Baccarin.

People sometimes forget that the SciFi convention is also combined with an Independant Film Festival, an Artist's Exhibition, a Parade (way too early on Saturday morning) and a Gamer's Convention. The guys with the big models of Star Wars ships are actually playing a game where they use tape measures and calculators to determine which ship moves where and how combat affects the defending ships. The last picture can give you a good idea of the scale between the Imperial Cruisers (The big one) and Imperial Fighters (the little blue ships). Oh well, to some people I guess this seems like a party.....

And of course, the Mardi Gras atmosphere wouldn't be complete if there weren't a bunch of people in costumes and girls wearing barely anything at all.
